Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) provides a powerful voice for abused and neglected children in the foster care system. Today there are more than 80 children in the Chautauqua County foster care system—toddlers who have been removed from their families because of abuse, abandonment or worse; children who have lost their parents and often been separated from their brothers and sisters; young teens who have had to change homes and schools six or seven times because they are shuffled between different temporary living situations.
Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) is a nonprofit that recruits, trains and supports citizen volunteers who advocate for the best interest of abused and neglected children in the foster care system. These volunteers ensure children are not overlooked in an overburdened child and legal welfare system. Each CASA volunteer is appointed by a Family Court Judge to be a voice for children in court with the ultimate goal of finding a safe, permanent and loving home. All children deserve to be treated with respect and dignity. All children have a right to a loving home where they can rebuild friendships, learn and grow. This isn't just important; it is a fundamental obligation of our society to protect the rights and needs of our children during the most vulnerable times in their lives. Please help us reach our goal of providing a CASA Volunteer to every child in the foster care system that needs one. Children who have a CASA Volunteer standing by their side...

About the Mary Rogers Heart of CASA Memorial Fund
A Mary Rogers Heart of CASA Memorial Fund has been established in her honor. The fund will support children’s education and extracurricular needs for those who may not have means or resources. The fund will provide children in grades K-12 with funds for educational resources, registrations, lessons, equipment, yearbooks, school outings and more. Mary was a dedicated teacher for thirty years at Sherman Central School and 4 years at Jamestown Community College before retiring. She was a community-driven and dedicated member of CASA, St. Isaac Joques RC Church, Psalmody, the Theta Beta Sorority and Beta Sigma Phi (national). Mary was always graced with a smile and gentle demeanor. She always put others needs before her own and humbly minimized her breast cancer battle with courage and strength. Mary will be remembered for her commitment and dedication to her family and the children of her community. Her legacy will continue to make a difference in the lives of the children in our community. Mary was a living embodiment of everything CASA stands for.
